Damien & Anna Hyde

Owners- Smith & Sons Cairns South

Damien & AnnaDamien and Anna Hyde have been living in Cairns for 9 years, they love the Cairns climate and lifestyle – enjoying all outdoor activities Cairns has on offer such as mountain biking, wakeboarding, fishing, spear fishing, cycling and camping.

Damien has been working in the building industry for over 20 years- predominantly working on high end custom built residential projects. Throughout his career, Damien has gained experience in a variety of construction methods and techniques from travelling and working all over Australia and the world.

Being a local, Damien knows the council regulations, cyclonic ratings, local weather conditions and the surrounding environment to perfectly design and build your home renovation or extension.

Adam Couch

SupervisorAdam Couch

Adam has been working in the building and construction industry for over 8 years. He started his apprenticeship 6 years ago with a local Cairns builder before stepping into the supervisor role with Smith & Sons.  Adam’s role with Smith & Sons includes job supervision and organisation, quantifying and ordering and quoting and construction works.

Jack Philp

Jack has been working the in building and construction industry for the past nine years. He began his carpentry apprenticeship in 2007 and became qualified carpenter in 2011. Jack has been living in Cairns for the past three years, after moving from Tasmania.

Scott McPherson

Scott has been working in the building & construction industry since 2005. He started his first apprenticeship as a joiner, specialising in stairs and installation. Scott attained his second trade as a carpenter and has worked for a number of different builders in the cairns area.

As a carpenter with Smith & Sons Scott works alongside the team to carry out construction works (renovations & extensions).

Bodhi Ford

Apprentice CarpenterBodhi

Bodhi has been working in the building and construction industry for the past four years. Prior to his Carpentry Apprenticeship with Smith & Sons he worked in Adelaide building prefabricated homes.

As part of his Carpentry Apprenticeship Bodhi’s role is to assist the carpenters onsite.

Mitchell Cooper

Apprentice CarpenterMitch

Mitchell has over two years’ experience in the building and construction industry. Prior to starting his Apprenticeship with Smith & Sons Cairns South, Mitchell worked as a Dairy Technician where he attained a Certificate III in Engineering- Fabrication Trade. He has also has experience as a building labourer and pool builder labourer.

Mitchell is currently undertaking his Carpentry Apprenticeship with Smith & Sons Cairns South. Mitchell’s role involves assisting the carpenters on site with any carpentry and building work.
